I tried to do something similar manually on Powerpoint maps using Census data points as many of my wife's family came from a small area of East London. I wanted to see how they moved about and met up between early 1800's and the present. Is there a way to add more data points to a person than just the birth place?
I thought about adding multiple points for a single individual, but that cluttered the main purpose of the tool. It looked too messy. But, there is a workaround to make that happen. You could let person #1 be Bob, born in England in 1900. Then, person #2 is also Bob in Maryland in 1920. Then, person #4 is Bob in Virginia in 1935. Then, person #8 is again Bob in Illinois in 1960. That would give you a 4-point path only for ancestor Bob. But, to do this cleanly, and for multiple people and life events, it should probably be a separate tool.
I agree that you should keep the main idea simple and separate, it was only that I had the address data for 1841-1921 UK censuses (plus marriage date & locations) in an excel sheet already that made be think of plotting movements over (parts of) that 90 years. I am in awe of what things can be done these days.
